Selections From Map Of The Inner War by Ed Templeton

An American Index Of The Hidden And Unfamiliar by Taryn Simon

In American Index Of The Hidden And Unfamiliar, Taryn Simon exposes the complexities of people, places, things and organizations that exist all around us everyday as we go along our merry way. Some of the most painfully plain images explode into life as the revelation of what your eyes are looking at is revealed in the subtext that accompanies the pictures. Part of the wonder is how a civilian photographer could even gain access to capture some of the images within the collection. A definite must see.

Molly Schiot’s Opening At Phyllis Stein Art Downtown Los Angeles

Last night we went to see our dear friend Molly Schiot’s opening at Phyllis Stein Art in downtown Los Angeles. Artwalk has become quite a scene. Considering the gloom and doom propaganda that pervades popular media it was delighting to see just how many people showed up to see and snatch up art by some of LA’s emerging artists.

PS: Please excuse my photos as they do not represent just how incredible the works looks in person.

2008 Hammer Fellows Dinner | John Lautner’s Hope Residence and Elrod House

Price standing on the front lawn of the Hope residence

Yesterday, thanks to my wife Price, I had the great pleasure of being one of 60 or so people to visit the astonishing Southridge home of Dolores and Bob Hope designed by John Lautner in Palm Springs. This remarkable property set on eight acres was the precursor for a dinner at another very well-known Lautner design, the Elrod House. As you will see in the 30+ images, we had a delightful time. A special thank you is in order for David Morehouse and Laura Sils from the Hammer Museum who constructed this fabulous evening. They are wonderful people! Check out our pictures.

The cover and images of Kate Moss in the new Interview magazine are extraordinary. The last of the Super Models delivers a smokin hot photo essay of Kate to say the least.

Museum and Gallery Visits In NYC

Pettibonepettibon

Price and I have been in NYC since late July. Since arriving we’ve been working and visiting with friends. I even went and skated the Autumn Bowl last night. I only managed to bust open my knee, bash my chin, and I may have possibly re-broken my wrist. Quite frankly I suck at skating. Bravo to all the Lakai boys and whoever else is over 35 killing it on their shred sled, cause it is extremely cumbersome for me to skate these days. I don’t know how they all do it. As well we’ve been visiting with artist, going to gallery’s and museums. Here are a few pictures of some of the are we’ve seen. Enjoy, cause we sure have. Images are from the gallery’s listed below. I’m no art critic just a casual observer.

Louise Bourgeois Guggenheim Museum NYC

Yesterday we spent about 2 hours at the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan tripping out on Louise Bourgeois’s work. Certainly a must see. Image, a birds eye view of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural design from above.

Jai Tanju Portrait 1993

A drawing of Jai that I did while I was living in Campbell, CA with Alan Petersen and Jason Adams.

Marc Johnson by Jai Tanju

I truly love this piece. The collage of Marc Johnson was made by Jai Tanju using a black and white print and found skateboard deck wood chips. This image is out of Jai’s new book titled “just keep going”. The book is about Jai’s trip to Tokyo, Japan for an art show he was in. Pick up a copy when it comes out… it’s amazing. In the meantime, check out some of Jai’s other books.
