Scout Seals The Deal

This is our dog Scout. Every day when I start to make coffee, Scout slowly makes her way out of our bedroom to greet me. Right after a brief, but thorough stretch she calmly walks over to the front door and waits for me to gather my belongings. When I pick up the keys off the holder next to the door she proceeds to hop getting her front feet of the ground about 2 inches or so. She’s ready to go. Today was a big day for us as we signed our first non-endemic book distribution deal. Very soon skatebook will be available to everyone all over the United States through traditional book sellers. I’m proud that our loyal bulldog Scout was there to help seal the deal. She also met the team over at GrindTV.com as well, but we forgot to take a picture over there.

foto8 featuring friend and photographer Chloe Sells

Last year price and I went to Africa – check the photos. Our good friend Chloe and Peter who own and operate several extraordinary safari camps invited us and many other friends to have a big party in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Our time there was unreal, they planned 3 of the best weeks of our lives for us.

More recently foto8 published some of Chloe’s photos online of a subject she’s been documenting for some time. The photos taken with real film are of girls who participate in beauty pageants, which according to Chloe are a common affair on a Saturday night in Botswana.

We all went out for a bite of mexican in brooklyn a couple nights ago. Our girl Emily Brandle, is back in town to finish up her business for season 5 of Project Runway. Turns out she got the boot from the show last night. We thought that it was Jennifer’s turn to go. What do I know though, I’m no fashion queen. “holla at your boi“!

Project Runway Season 5

Our dear and good friend Emily was recently in NYC for 6 or so weeks filming for this seasons Project Runway. Did she win? Did she Loose? Well, only time will tell. Hey E, we’re you’re #1 fans. xoxo Salman and Price. Oh yeah don’t forget to check out SMOKE AND MIRRORS , Emily’s current collection. You won’t be bummed you did.

Price and the stray dog

Price just has a heart for these stray dogs around our house in downtown LA. There are quite a few of them. Most of them run off the second you try to approach them. Price made friends with this one, fed it and gave it water. The “no kill” shelter was closed so we had to leave him be. He couldn’t have smelled any worse. After about 2 hours of hanging out with the little beast we called it a night.

Hey, I know I stink lady, but can you please scratch my head?

Transworld Skateboarding Awards And Video Premiere

Last night I had the privilege of attending the 10th annual Transworld Awards Show and Video Premiere. David Gravette, Malto, Miller, Jackson, Trapasso, Hoyle, what can I say… all those guys rip. I was super stoked to see the level of creativity that they all exhibited in their parts. I can’t wait for Jon Holland to make a video about all the teenage transition skaters coming up, like Tyler Mumma and that Anti Hero kid that skates Pedro.

Some people we hung out with in pictures. Price and meJamie Stone, Chris Pastras and their girls. (more…)

Quite frankly, Blake doesn’t have anything to do with skateboarding, but he sure is hot. Photo taken during the commemorative Mike Conley ride day at Perris Raceway, sponsored by DVS. Oh yeah and he’s a damn good tattoo artist.

Do You Have Sabre Vision?

We went to Sabre today and picked up some sweet limited clear Mauve X Sabre poolsides at Dont Panic. Sabre has skatebooks so if you want one, get down there to “Dont Panic” in Newport Beach and buy a set of shades and get a skatebook for free. While supplies last. Why People Love California

Price and I are staying here for the weekend in Palm Springs. Family, friends, hot tub, golf, Coachella. But besides that, I think this picture sums up why people love California. Maybe if I practice my golf game on the signature Jack Nicklaus course I’ll be able to give Koston and Gavin a run for their money.

World Famous Art Director Backs Toyota Sequoia

In a bold move, world famous girl skateboards art director, Andy Jenkins, of Sevilla, Spain backs the new Toyota Sequoia. According to Andy and his family, the dishes can wait but life won’t. Lakai comes up huge with product placement in the advertisement as the new big wheel braking system. The new Sequoia is anything but ordinary.

Gee Mark, I thought adding the Daily Gonz was going to seriously increase my stats. Looks like a roller coaster ride to me. Let’s get hot. Read my blog about it.

A Public Service Announcement To All Politicians

Away from the set, Heston was a passionate campaigner for civil rights. Here, he (left) pickets a whites-only restaurant in Oklahoma City in 1961.

Chocolate Chewies

Some people write about the latest greatest collab or the sneaker of the week. I’ve done it too, but not this time. This picture here is of the world famous chocolate chewies that my mom invented at Our Daily Bread in San Jose. These little cookies were one of the most popular items in our family’s restaurant growing up and still are for people all over the world. Get some today. Maybe these little cookies should be president.

Orange County Skateboard Company Black Label Endorses Iranian Presidential Hopeful Agah

COSTA MESA – Professional skateboarder Salman Agah’s campaign in the upcoming imaginary primary received a boost on Friday with the endorsement of John Lucero, (I-Ca.), a prominent industry figure with a strong following among the hard core working-class skaters that Agah has struggled to win elsewhere.

The Hundreds Cast Their Vote

Yesterday, we were hot on the campaign trail, eating the daily special at Canters on Fairfax with The Hundreds. Looks like we got another vote. Don’t sleep. Vote Agah for president of the world in 2008.

Knock You Out

Shepard Fairey Barack Obama, I Mean Agah, Poster

Yeah that’s right, this is the first presidential campaign poster Shepard Fairey made. Now, if you thought it was going to be tough voting for the United States of America’s first black or woman president, how about we really shake things up and vote for me, America’s first Iranian president? My name is Salman Agah and I approve this message.

“Wherefore, instead of gazing at each other, with suspicious or doubtful curiosity, let each of us hold out to his neighbor the hearty hand of friendship, and unite in drawing a line, which, like an act of oblivion, shall bury in forgetfulness every former dissention. Let the names of Democrat and Republican be extinct; and let none other be heard among us, than those of a good citizen; an open and resolute friend; and a virtuous supporter of the RIGHTS of MANKIND, and of the FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES OF AMERICA.” – adapted from Thomas Paine’s Common Sense

No Ruz, new day or New Year as the Iranians call it, is a celebration of spring Equinox. It has been celebrated by all the major cultures of ancient Mesopotamia. Sumerians, 3000BC, Babylonians 2000 BC, the ancient kingdom of Elam in Southern Persia 2000BC, Akaddians all have been celebrating it in one form or another. What we have today as No Ruz with its’ uniquely Iranian characteristics has been celebrated for at least 3000 years and is deeply rooted in the traditions of Zoroastrian belief system.

Is Your Child A Hot Tagger

I saw this on crailtap. Wow. Who decides if tagging is an artform or not? I guess Orange County does. Wow again.  Backpack, hoodie, sneakers – I guess every student in high school could be stereotyped as a tagger. Wow Wow Wow.

This is my dog, Calamity Jane aka Scout. She loves to jump into the car and go everywhere with me. This trip was to the track to practice for an upcoming race. From the way she’s sitting on the seat you’d think that dogs are people too.
