James Bubba Stewart And Chad Reed Mean Business

So I’m a little late jumping on the A1 Supercross opener bandwagon. Whatever! My good friend Toddy G and I spent the entire day at the races watching practice, eating out of the roach coach in the pits and geeking out on the sweet rides the factory’s dreamed up for the top racing stars of 2009. Was I surprised to see James Stewart on his head? Yes. Was I surprised that Chad Reed brought his A game. Not at all. I’m happy to report that it looks like it’s going to be a dogfight to the end. Halleluia!

Something you don’t see very often! Another racer passing Stewart and actually pulling away. Impressive.

Jake Weimer is pitting out of Mitch Payton’s, Pro Circuit rig this year. You know what that means? It means Mitch thinks the kid can win. In this picture Jake confident as ever beams the camera while pounding out hot laps aboard his lightning fast Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX250f.

Ricky Carmichael Chases James Stewart

It’s December 13th, 2008. As the holidays approach and 2008 comes to a close; the last days through new years mark a time when race fans will twiddle their thumbs, waiting fervently in anticipation for the beginning of the Supercross season. As I reflect on years past with line ups on the starting gate including Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham, Chad Reed, Jeff Emig, Ezra Lusk, Sebastian Tortelli, David Vuillemin, James Stewart, and Jeremy McGrath, I can’t help but wonder what kind of season Anaheim 1 will usher in. Following Ricky’s retirement (more…)

David Bailey Motocross Legend

It’s not often that I get star struck. I simply don’t give a damn. However when I saw David Bailey inside the confines of the ASR Trade Show in San Diego, I got felt giddy. For those of you that don’t know Bailey is an 80’s motocross ICON. He defined tenacious back in the day and rides a wheelchair now to prove it. The fact of the matter is that he’s been a voice for motocross for decades and paved the way for the conditions that riders currently enjoy. A true champion.

James Stewart Searches, Seeks and Destroys!

The weather channel should name a hurricane after this kid, cause he just decimated and demolished the playing field. James Bubba Stewart does it! A perfect season! Not even RC showed the type of dominance displayed in his career, like what  James Bubba Stewart displayed this past outdoor motocross season. Now that the season is over James Stewart becomes the 1st ever racer in the history of racing to win every major title. Not to mention according to the “AMA Toyota MX Laps Led” out of the 382 laps raced in the series, Stewart led 369 of them. Talk about dominant. Stewart’s 2008 outdoor campaign will forever be remembered in the annuls of motocross history as a season littered with vision, determination, heart and commitment. Stewart has known since he was a child that he wanted to be dominant. As you can see in the photo James is an imaginative rider not limiting himself in any capacity. Stay tuned as James Stewart and the rest of Team America proceed to defend our title at the Motocross des Nations in England.

James Bubba Stewart Scrubs His First Championship Outdoors

One the most dynamic and exciting racers in the history of motocross finally does it. After battling through RC, injuries, immaturity, what seemed to be insurmountable pressure from other people’s expectations, James Bubba Stewart clinches the US Motocross Championship at the Spring Creek National. Not only is this Stewart’s first championship in the premier class outdoors, but there is a very good chance that he could have a perfect season. Congratulations to James Stewart, Kawasaki, Fox Head and the Stewart family and team on an extraordinary outdoor season.

Ryan Villopoto Wins 3rd Motocross Lites Championship

Coming from 38th to 2nd place just seconds behind Ryan Dungey, Ryan Villopoto clinches the US Motocross Nationals. An amazing ride, Ryan came up through the crowd to win his 3rd national lites championship. Congrats to the whole Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. Can’t wait to see what kind of fire Ryan brings to the 450 class.

James Bubba Stewart = Perfect Season

For those of you who have ever thrown your leg over a dirtbike, we all know it’s a matter of if not when, that you’ll make it over the bars and onto your back. I’ve ridden motocross for years and skateboarded all my life. I can honestly say that motocross is the most physically demanding activity that I’ve ever tried. Not to mention it’s a sport that will have you healing for months after that one good get off. It takes being in top physical condition and mental health to get out there and burn laps around a track that is constantly changing as each rider makes his/her way around. James Stewart is defying reality this year. Thus far he’s had 18 perfect motos. Looks to me like someone is out to give RC’s records a run for their money. photo Steve Cox

Dungey Is Bad Ass

Stewart Is Back

When James Stewart was very young, in a video produced by Fox Racing he claimed that he intended to dominate like McGrath. Are we finally on the dawn of the Stewart era? I haven’t watched the race yet from Glen Helen, but by all accounts and observations I think his time has arrived. I sure hope that James, doesn’t follow the lead of all the others who are taking supercross only contracts. In my opinion the real champion wins outdoors. After seeing some of the highlights on motocross.com it seems that Bubba is on his way. Photo by Steve Cox

Is JLaw Stoned?

Boost Mobile Yamaha of Troy rider and 2008 Supercross West Coast Lites Champion, Jason Lawrence, garnishes his crown with the Volcom stone. Could it be that Volcom is planning on coming out with a moto gear line? Or does JLaw simply relate to the Stone’s youth against establishment creed? It’s no secret that lots of the guys and girls that work at the Stone like to get out and do hot laps around some of southern California’s finest tracks.

The Daytona Supercross was by far the most wet and muddiest race I’ve ever seen. Believe it or not this is a shot of Kevin Windham by Racer X photographer extraordinaire Simon Cudby. Not sure if you’ve ever ridden in the mud? It’s fun and difficult.

I went to see one race this year. It was Anaheim 2, the third round of the 08 SX race season. When Stewart’s video came up on the screen prior to opening ceremonies where he announced that he’s not racing due to a pre-existing injury, I couldn’t believe it. Well the season is now half way over and I miss this guy. This is an older photo of the fastest guy on two wheels. Braaap. Also hard to believe, is the fact that two-strokes, like the one pictured here are gone as well! RIP
